Alena Trainova
A native Russian speaker, I moved from Belarus to the UK after graduating from the Minsk State Linguistic University with a degree in English and French. Later in London, I completed an MA in Translation from the University of Westminster.
Since then, I began building my freelance network by providing translations in the human rights field for NGOs and international organisations. Over the years, I translated hundreds of thousands of words on a non-profit and commercial basis. Simultaneously, I developed new skills and competencies in the UK corporate sector while working as an in-house translator in the shipping and financial industries. In 2009, I joined a translation team in a leading London immigration and human rights law practice, where I honed my working-under-pressure skills and my interest in law was shaped.
In 2011, I passed the exam to become a Qualified Member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (MITI) with a specialisation in law.
After relocating to Australia, I obtained certification from the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI CPN 4QQ49A) as a professional translator from English to Russian.
Soon after I enrolled in an LLB course with the University of London Worldwide programme with completion in 2021.
In Australia, I joined a translation team at a leading innovative manufacturer of creative video technology. To this day, I continue learning about this fascinating industry whilst polishing my translation skills.
In my spare time, I love spending time with my very cheeky children, reading, and exploring new places.
